: p; i( R/ P8 E3 rEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
) p9 f* N$ g: [- z• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather / p! z8 k% k1 d, t) g/ k

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

0 Y" }1 _, j, _3 `' H8 j" u• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.0 x* I0 m" H* G4 X6 C
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.+ u t# F. M2 A* Y! I$ Q* q
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 1 T, h% m! A W; F" A, Q
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. . Y5 y/ X' n1 o" N; `( r2 M: B
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 9 v# `9 S K- \6 a# f8 Q
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

HOURS OF WORK:

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
4 U g$ } h. M; [0 ]Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
