- ^+ J- ^& y& o7 W+ f! cEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

( H( j# _$ v1 C; ~8 q- X• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information./ y( k( @+ `0 w; b$ U. ^
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ! i7 N5 ^ b1 {% R

• Adhere to schedules.

• Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).3 r) h! e4 n) K1 J5 e
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.5 f( R# Q+ f( B4 N( q$ u4 `
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
7 }# h3 E8 v1 G' a# p• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ( s$ w- B$ h" K+ H
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
, P' c) ~$ ^) `9 U9 ]+ W7 o• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
$ E* N2 R$ w) X: z& avideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week 0 {# N: z! G ]8 K' q/ A
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly- s4 o! g4 L3 l, B3 ~ ]9 e( T
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 7 v; D4 j* h& j/ g) ~* O
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly6 T; A+ |- O4 e a* A
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly. m* b/ D& l& o' K# @$ Y! n0 y8 Y
