Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.& ~, n$ T+ G2 R1 ^1 N

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.- b; t& `: Q& ~/ E$ ?
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

* i2 G ]" J/ W( q; b• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 0 J: w4 r4 }; K- c% `) T

• Adhere to schedules.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.* {8 x8 T5 U" D \
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability 5 g3 [. V9 }- h/ ~4 o0 X+ R2 X+ l! V
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger : T3 z) s4 i9 P# g t% o

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
$ s: L7 J9 V3 B! T• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
' K* h( r7 i" x6 d- y, A+ a• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

/ v, h# [9 t. I, y" ~showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 0 A* ]9 g, I/ a2 A# B" i4 O
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
7 z5 p$ e7 f- N3 F1 tvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly2 W- y% ~( C: z- U% Z2 b

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004
