" I& h; d2 [) X& F4 B3 N2 |Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

FUNCTIONS:
) g& K% C* y3 a) b• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
1 e9 G' o+ B, C8 G+ t/ @4 e• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
: j* J8 ~( g9 D' @• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.; |6 n: e. l/ i
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather
# x8 W' ` g/ I0 `& ?( K) dand traffic conditions.

5 Z# z" T8 l! O• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:2 _2 I& V9 g. x, C8 U
• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

( @7 r, V2 d/ o: l4 Cto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
% a8 ` a7 B* H% i. ~• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.$ L( d: ]+ N$ O1 m- `1 Y: m
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

7 {# m2 A! H7 |7 |4 ?* v8 Zshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
