Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
7 l0 W5 W" {% w3 j• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.( L5 S) K' o: h4 ^
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.
C5 M( c$ i+ J% n• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

: F& Z7 @- j( S1 i9 u _" v- y• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. + Z! ~0 V5 e6 R% q
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
: o4 ?* S% I, E+ \$ t5 |2 o• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.9 R* z4 X$ F# F% K; }+ X9 b! L
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.9 f8 [; S/ r) w: S2 x0 o( y
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
! V' N h- r' n7 z: {: k3 C• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.3 m* z5 B/ Z2 c. O( t
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.0 Z- m" ~, n/ O0 e
• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.; @% |: c- X) W* f8 k3 a# W+ G3 ^
Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services
& x& s8 g H# ~: p• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.9 } G+ p2 j6 n
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
2 }; Z, N+ P5 q3 R* T• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.
: q5 _+ k6 K+ L9 w• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.: n7 ^- L' e( ~+ u
• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.
( L+ S" S+ `2 g$ @0 J" L7 U• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

0 b8 t: w1 y# ?) @6 Y4 a• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
$ a3 Q# Z I6 Y. c( K• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
/ `; i0 B9 {# U• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
/ S) I3 h% I, z7 h9 g• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.' A; F2 X- q2 [' L
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.0 D' ~/ }% N/ C6 d7 L
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
+ C( G h4 R& H2 HSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
