: N/ u) P8 @1 O: Z• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
& _' O/ n* [0 u9 j; E$ z3 ]# F7 |1 d( d• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe./ g7 I3 Z' S0 D, b7 E; a, l9 Z
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.' h# R' V5 z5 z2 n" {
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works( W! l8 l9 V2 }! a+ F. T8 v) w$ h
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. " q! I9 y% u# _7 n! P
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders./ p2 r) N9 J2 L: [$ E9 A; L, @
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
( K. }# D: H2 ~! T/ I" v; B5 a• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation

• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).# X6 l- y5 y0 q" x" B
• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.7 o7 @2 M% A% M. x
Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services z7 H- W9 n& S- m$ C3 @
• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.

• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.8 x5 ` P4 A2 K
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.

Job Requirements:; q4 l, o* u P# t) \# c2 w
• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
: U; D: z3 F4 Q$ W& u& Y• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.

• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.0 L- u! x$ c( J% c0 c' v. K
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.0 P+ l- ?* c# e! T6 P
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.. i0 H% Q8 Q( \; A+ P6 c7 W
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
