A Strange Occurrence' T" z# @( Z( C3 k: [
; x" [9 V- o2 G/ X$ M7 f- e* eThis strange event happened when I was in Montreal. When I worked in a liquor store, there was a man who came to the store every night and paid for his alcohol completely in coins. At the beginning, I just felt curious about his dibs. Why did he only have coins? 5 I+ C6 @0 v# F5 D) B
One day, I took the subway train downtown. A shadow caught my attention. I saw there was a homeless person. He was wearing dirty clothes and ate the leftover food. However, he did not forget to show his poor face to ask for money. He was a smart man because he chose a place that had a huge traffic of people which made it easy for him to get more money by only sitting there. There, almost everyone threw him a coin to show their sympathy. That was the source of his coins. However, he used all of this money for alcohol. He was an alcoholic.
( j2 Q9 b7 l- l% g2 e& X; ?8 yWhen I went back to work that night, he came in again as before. Because he was a homeless person, the government gave him a place to live and food. Why didn’t he find a job? Maybe, that was the easiest way to make a “salary”. Should people give him money for drink if they know they will continually have to give him? That makes me feel strange; I think people just sympathize him. However, if nobody gives him the money, is he going to try using his power to gain money? I think maybe we should not give him money, not because we are not kind but because maybe that is why he is lazy.
