The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.

3 p, z8 ~, z" j( f8 u- RSalary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

Duties include: working closely with graduate students and research
8 M: T& R( ]' F5 x: {technicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
for use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
6 W* H2 o2 h0 Vinclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
2 `/ |0 u3 s% O/ q8 U# v" I+ Zcompounds by chromatography.

Qualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
9 M# Q. Q3 ~' F" V- aChemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
* |  F3 U9 e2 g8 ?! U2 aanalytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
" u7 B, U( @+ P/ o) [9 y& [/ v9 ]of a team essential.
This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
and chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
2 M# b0 t  r5 j7 y  A' whope to work in these areas.
