TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.

& E9 Q% R* j9 A' z8 e: wThere are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

( Y2 j9 j$ f' m) q7 S# gThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007., ?# u, ~# H; H
"The Sun Life name is also well known and highly respected in many other markets around the world," said Sun Life chief executive Don Stewart.
