Sun Life to retire Clarica name

TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
! ?3 {. a1 W" TClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.- q6 \$ O5 ^# }4 D1 n U1 B
There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.: [; X$ X- Y3 P

The company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.
