Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.3 Y9 s8 x( _6 R+ P" |" g
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.( l- V9 a( L3 I! h% y) `
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail." J+ k `/ e, T8 X2 X
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.! Y" |/ T7 p% m2 e
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
