( k7 j% S% q) O5 K7 q' `EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.! g! K/ ?4 }' ~
( \4 G4 Q1 _9 y) R# v. T+ ~! Z& r; YThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store." y9 u7 v) m5 _4 W% ]0 f, D
. r( X$ h" I! f"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
