You mean it is frozen, the overflow discharge pipe(about 3/4" in diameter) frozen in basement?

Anything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.

Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve)

' w" h7 p( g( D  Copen all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line;
Close the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one;
Shut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off;
; y0 O2 g5 h8 F" `9 SOpen the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out;
Then remove the expansion valve, go to home or Canadian tire. they all have one.

sorry I thought you were talking about a hot water tank....

' B; z, d& n; R8 X9 q3 NThe humidifier is even simpler. The drain hose is supposed to have water go thorough the humidifier filter inside the housing and then goes to drain when furnace is on.

9 n) e1 l+ ]  \) b8 @If there is no crack at the housing connector, just re-do the connection when the furnace is off.
