You mean it is frozen, the overflow discharge pipe(about 3/4" in diameter) frozen in basement? & l3 F1 b {* B8 s; P; w* h . X; q! v/ _9 H4 H1 w9 V& |7 vAnything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.
Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve)) p7 S8 g" D; J9 D- v) _* C9 L0 n
+ H$ B' Q2 Y4 c0 f. BClose the main water inlet valve; 9 r5 b, c" D: xopen all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line;8 s. w( m0 t+ `6 l* W0 R q3 I
Close the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one; ' V X1 F& E; g4 HShut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off;9 H/ g2 M: L" Z q
Open the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out;$ E, S3 Z1 J x
Then remove the expansion valve, go to home or Canadian tire. they all have one." u8 g6 h" J# `- R; V' x( c

The drain hose is supposed to have water go thorough the humidifier filter inside the housing and then goes to drain when furnace is on. - T: { i9 [* @. U- ]) M: i; M7 m* F
If there is no crack at the housing connector, just re-do the connection when the furnace is off. * v/ c4 T5 J# q) @ 6 m( J/ \6 I$ k' lNot a big issue..
