Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.4 L D$ t- P- g& q4 ]* u

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.9 ~" m, t9 `' X0 F7 Z- x1 K
