# @5 }6 `4 o* i7 [* h9 U* mBuilders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.9 |7 q3 L* o/ ~5 H3 K

“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
