Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.

Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes.; b) k/ o) n) q3 B9 N* {
. B' L) O3 @& T y" x6 S; PThe increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.& c2 [, @4 X6 x+ V# y) F: i

“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
