(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor

(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,% N3 I1 y) w7 k8 g
permit another person
, K* }, k9 f( X4 Q& w! x$ a(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or+ _+ T( D( E2 n
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,; N- l. D% d, f! S: U) y3 {
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

responsibility card or a copy of it5 c3 {9 Q0 _/ M* g1 w
to a person not entitled to have that financial

+ ]1 h4 O$ O5 G N6 v E TIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
# Z+ j( s( a, ^0 b5 Q1 Bwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
5 [# q0 ]9 F, I+ Xthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
) i7 Q0 A% P$ K, x& H" A ~- f(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is7 i4 u. M7 Y+ b* L: X' Q4 N$ C Z7 P
not an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
# Q, G% r1 U& D r' t( }Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this( I2 T: P2 j9 }; ~
section.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a" P0 {6 p6 H) {0 p! Z6 N
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
" j. j. M* A. @6 K1 G' j4 |Insurance Act
- n3 X) N) g) B6 c7 H% dby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy7 i; F! N: g! j4 n
outside Alberta.

% O! k! J) w6 h* S/ \, G$ zA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection# q! X% Z: J% D5 Z* Q3 u
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,8 K3 M6 D7 P' [; E5 b4 G
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
% q! f! E+ i& ~: a" @9 {7 Qand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
: H# k2 Q9 k9 i* c! x7 gimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not- I& U# F! Y- \: p- {
more than 6 months
1 m# d7 D+ i2 IMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
