Responsibilities and Tasks3 ~' |6 D& U* X! K
7 _) I4 [/ s3 F ?6 r- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
% s- D& p) X, X* J. X- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
) T2 [1 M9 K* ^" L+ {2 l! Q- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines7 Q7 b3 a& h* ` Z
- Select type and size of pipe required
; M3 v" M; N" F. b' {: U- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools7 e$ `+ N! \5 w# ?
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
7 S8 L* K w m2 G1 P- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems, r5 C4 Y8 Z1 A' [2 _6 p
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment% N; t! I n: Y' l; U. L
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system* p/ J& Q7 w% @! o/ c9 n
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

Required Qualifications
& D! M# i& [6 {; t$ E
; D' Y% a) [9 ]' n5 S, {4 t K- Completion of secondary school7 ~% L& f- Z! b& q1 A
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
5 H" H, b0 G! \8 O" Y- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals" N- r" ]1 D5 g' b+ \: P' A5 V
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- d) o1 x; H5 s6 ^8 T5 b1 w- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset

- Valid drivers’ license is an asset
