Responsibilities and Tasks

' B8 M3 u5 V) R( c& P' D- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
2 E# Q9 g. K( B, w* f8 p3 y7 f% a- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements9 I/ K( ]: T$ v+ @0 k. G/ T
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
) ~1 l' R3 X5 p3 G- Select type and size of pipe required4 K3 m, _- D7 \4 }4 x9 a8 Z% }" \1 W
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools1 S, D7 Z/ N& B! p) q( U
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system. C K3 w: a* J9 g6 b" }- @4 e
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems8 b6 Q9 H3 v6 L
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment9 h0 }$ x: V) {% | ^1 G
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
! X c2 \! [3 L" u! E/ Q+ [) }( J# a- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
/ t1 w' m% `+ n2 w% f! Q- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

Required Qualifications

5 f& i; {6 L) k$ q I+ s! G; s- Completion of secondary school4 }- v: A- w0 `! V
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
/ P! |! p. F' y2 ~& z- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
