Job Title:        Program Manager Abbottsfield Youth Project

Job Purpose:- Y5 Z$ H1 T" ], _4 J2 W0 J
To support the Executive Director with fundraising, special events and will be instrumental in the development of our Social Enterprise.  This position will also be working directly with children 6-12 years old to teach life skills such as self esteem, communication skills, peer relations using recreation and physical activities to promote growth.  Small group facilitation, one-to-ones, family support, advocacy and referrals are used to achieve program outcomes.

This is a full time, one year term position working 37.5 hours per week with 10-15 hours per week dedicated to the children’s programming.   (Continuation of this position will depend on available funding)

  t" h! @5 V# E# j" F& d8 h•        Working together with the Executive Director to solidify new funding opportunities and write funding reports as needed;% f4 d  S2 |: }
•        Supporting in the overall development of programs and activities that benefit our community and our children;) X( U: D/ U7 ^; r0 ]' ]& [
•        Maintaining and evaluating program outcomes;  Z; Z5 r+ U( ]! A' K6 ?& _1 s
•        Spearheading the further develop our social enterprise; ; m. l: C1 B8 M
•        Risk Management and succession planning;4 m% `8 q' y  k* T- i

6 N( }/ h" B/ h5 H! hProgram Duties and Responsibilities include:  
: [1 j; T7 A' E. R. d•        Maintaining comprehensive and objective contact notes related to child or conversations with others about child;4 O1 E; h1 c% {6 [* R
•        Maintaining confidentiality related to all participant information;$ ]* X2 X$ e$ }- U, _  k& w
•        Liaising and/or advocate with school personnel, parent/guardian, and child, as required;
: \9 P8 M, y* G; D•        Creatively planning, organizing, and evaluating small group and one-to-one activities/ b5 ], v& W% R+ r
•        Participating in establishing achievable program outcomes and employ group strategies and activities to achieve the same;
( v6 }0 y: n8 T% H' x' T: K8 O2 c•        Meeting with participants on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve success with their goals;# u* R4 V% d& M0 R+ R8 e1 v
•        Building and maintaining positive relationships with children in groups;
; _' |  L6 C* |•        Participating in the planning and implementation of family activities for participants & families;8 E8 g9 K% Y4 r( R, {& h

; V4 w) [! d  q& p1 d8 wQualifications:: w9 f/ y$ O5 S7 v& Y( ?: D! e
•        Degree in communications, human services or related field;; ?5 P0 _" j. w5 {' u5 x! U# K
•        Extensive knowledge of the not for profit or voluntary sector;6 P' u7 a! O9 w( s
•        Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations;  6 B& m: j* x4 W, E/ C
•        Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in writing funding proposals and reports a must;$ m/ ?" t  s2 T
•        The abilities to multi-task, creatively problem solve, communicate effectively, foster teamwork, and build relationships are critical.
8 H' e* d" _! z•        Extensive experience in group facilitation and working with children;  I( b( j& D2 C5 A5 |/ Q, H" y
•        Current certificates in Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Suicide Intervention, Standard First Aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are preferred;5 ]2 P, W! P# s2 C7 Y; V
•        Clear CYIM, Security Clearance, and Driver’s Abstract;
' @$ C3 p4 L( S•        Current valid drivers license;
; z3 t4 G' m7 g* m) ^•        Knowledge of and comfort with the implementation of behavioural intervention strategies;
/ X: [5 u" u) Q+ M; ~•        Conflict resolution skills;1 r) l$ w" S1 A! f
•        Clear understanding of professional boundaries;4 W# |' n" w: Y, N" h( g3 G
•        Committed and passionate about children;6 o- E# h2 U6 V0 E4 h$ ?
