Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

1 W& Y0 s$ f M7 U1 wmegapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution& M+ p! M7 F2 B- [
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color( d6 w1 u) X3 Y) O7 V# D! i) d" J. K
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance2 O/ N( p* q+ b3 y( E
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
* b$ n/ F/ g2 Vallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject0 l# x0 H& j3 t r% o
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
3 Q% F* p% G6 o& y% K0 @: qwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
0 E- x& R- N" n# M7 gimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was/ o$ R1 O% W! S% I( n; Q
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
0 Y) t2 x! f$ ~7 }' Jconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown& F5 n! `/ G. E8 s1 \
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

; O9 d' S; y5 V: T3 R5 T' [When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
/ r% C4 Z: V# G: P: h36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
: ~7 J8 n, E" drange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces: G& O5 o4 w: m/ k7 D2 G( b
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a2 T8 a) Q8 w7 Y5 t
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as6 K) q2 O; N0 `" z" z* X. f
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.3 D9 v% |0 `# m: s. l5 w
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor" x# y9 g4 b: D9 }( ?
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is. L5 j6 X: I+ R( ` r4 ^+ N
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
/ m( R/ h+ l6 c7 K/ Galso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New3 w: b0 V- e2 J
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
$ b) ?) V5 K" k Ain such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality1 ^" L2 s x7 P2 H
prints and video.. G0 e3 }; Y5 {7 `2 n
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
6 Y! t4 Q7 N/ @, j/ ]4 Snot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models: | D3 P" e, X0 j8 Z6 q6 n/ H7 M
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using# d. s$ J, n& P9 r
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first, S. y4 b* Q, c) I
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws& W& g; n4 r, `$ s
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of! g$ y, p: f% g
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
3 w+ H( |8 L* z# nam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as1 v1 }% Z1 ?0 F8 s
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse# ^' h8 s' \# h: f; f" v
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add1 r9 y5 K, B5 j B2 Q: \+ I5 g! {0 p
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the+ r. y2 m+ ` J5 k0 n9 F9 U
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
! m/ g( x/ c* [5 q# Iis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
' L7 K5 Z6 n7 i MAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
5 C0 C9 _6 U! r: J" ^9 Ucompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
6 e" s% |% [& x7 }) f1 M2 martistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for" [% V1 y8 C! b6 x; z) ~
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital

quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for6 @! v6 H9 C2 ^6 {
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they5 g6 _, U9 b4 l; [2 t
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
, N: C# [- l; K" @/ Q5 N6 |clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
% u n7 }) X* a1 {% mto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional& }$ d9 _: r: s0 d
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
