He served as a psychiatric social worker and a family social worker for many years both in Hong Kong and Edmonton. Mrs. Mimi Chan is the Chinese ESL Liaison Worker of Edmonton Catholic Schools. She regularly provides information/orientation seminars to Chinese families on the school system and educational services in Edmonton. Both have taught parenting and family life courses for the local Chinese community.)
