• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed, S7 Q( ]: q) |
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
3 ]2 y% o+ m+ R" D• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
) G1 E' c9 @; ^5 R% Q* L" K' ^• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams+ L% `( r u/ _8 {2 i z
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place6 }$ `2 ~# D& v
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
$ ]. }; Z4 G! D+ z• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
' m# N3 p. i& R r5 D- q- N" Q• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting" A7 x5 J* x1 r3 ^4 ~' O5 V& ?
• Mix paint, blend and match colors9 b( g( u' j# c7 T) ~! x
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
Z/ O) `# X. B$ {• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
1 ^$ [8 @. S3 m, Y- s5 V, b9 W' M! p• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 3 m2 y4 ?, C/ D6 ?/ g1 b
or$ z& t1 s2 w- f. l7 Y+ _
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade 5 V+ p; f+ D/ B) X; D3 S
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
