YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
& J' v( Q6 K, U! Ppeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
; O- A& `" g: K! x; ?' o& FThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
0 t& T9 h7 l* I2 f  w: x$ D, O: M
. v& v% Q! z; n8 Y; Oproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
$ B: i  _( H" O0 {( ]- IThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
; l4 Y3 `/ v5 g% x; \! t0 n& Z: ~Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
2 X& B$ G3 o0 I' m$ r4 ?6 d4 Yfollow-up once the program is completed.

  {# b8 Q2 v3 \( q7 rVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
