YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
/ i- a0 D9 \/ H; Vnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
$ m& X; q! g$ aThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
8 \: d& j; b% w) k4 Mthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
! E: L1 M& T% e5 M4 |) [+ v" zpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
; z0 r% g+ ~0 k$ O( z) vAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
! Z! c" h5 w9 ~; C5 Q  I6 Q* eand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
