T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
5 W2 q2 p2 b) }3 l1 I/ U' G3 D+ ZAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering 9 ]+ l$ r( j C
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
& f+ h/ w6 X- p. X ginterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
. D6 A, W3 w6 Zand Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.! `# c e7 [; b' z. ~' \- C

What will take place in the sessions?5 m9 A) Z# |6 H2 m+ C: ]
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.5 N4 e0 U* o! f
6 F) p. i! c, X6 L" aThese activities will enable youth to:
# ^+ W; T2 Z, c5 A Explore personal interests in arts and recreation! i' W! p1 r6 e
 Learn how to access community services and programs
1 \/ V. t5 Z# `8 E6 l Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

Program Schedule:
( i _* w+ O8 f; G( q& XRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
$ N% z: n ~- D) XSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily& `5 o' \' R/ P8 X) v
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily, \& |9 e7 s* @

Who can participate?
c. W1 l9 c& I/ U% q* fAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

; M! S8 {3 s4 P: R! XWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
3 e, V% Q& t! H) ~+ x. R3 Z# uIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.# H- t0 ]# d" @; {5 c

Volunteer’s Duties:6 G; }1 B. j# r1 Q
7 F3 Q' h: H- m Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies . m; D* `) n! ~0 Z$ {5 ^
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development ! Q, w6 r. C, M9 z
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities( S% s5 _! n; @
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
5 c3 ?$ i+ t8 N- `; M# c+ y# M Research activities related to the sessions’ topic% q/ R Y4 G7 `5 b
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
9 i$ Y: a* W/ @6 D+ s Assist in program planning

Volunteer Commitment:6 x3 C2 e8 J7 X$ i7 P! Q

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)# @2 b/ l/ d+ j7 q' |+ Q9 e" t/ A
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer* W) k G! o6 s/ t( e. C: T$ m

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision

 Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
