T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip * T( n9 V! g# B; B( ]$ Z5 a, P
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering ! e! K$ V" W/ H
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
- \6 z; f5 K2 k& X( n7 I: X6 m+ zinterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
2 y0 v6 K \7 W, h. f) h& L! D$ Dand Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

What will take place in the sessions?- t q: W) b) b& K9 P8 H
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.1 R b4 s# K& n6 e, b9 e+ D2 D( R

These activities will enable youth to:4 z& z/ w* X( H
 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation# ^1 o3 H! o m4 G( P& k9 G1 C+ o
 Learn how to access community services and programs
3 a+ \& O {8 v8 h h1 \ Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

Program Schedule:
$ d1 a' g' v9 C R8 }. ~Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.' N1 B/ G( Q0 h) |5 w: p6 X3 D
Summer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily. w. k4 w4 X5 H9 z, f1 P) W
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.' J2 T8 ~3 h0 T4 d! p
. n: U' M8 R8 U dWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
) O& N+ b" \6 }4 Q1 ^7 f" [It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
" H+ J, r: \0 M& _6 u Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development " c+ b" X; m ?4 N" ]
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities3 W9 @- S( B% t9 @# N, u
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions0 m& f/ X7 W1 V8 [6 I% k* T
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
1 `, a; w7 \8 w, s k# c6 k5 r Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips

Volunteer Commitment:5 o' Z8 _/ b% e' r( k
2 ^# L# S5 D* n
 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
4 l/ O9 O1 y& N One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator
- S. c" y. ~) R Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision. Q5 g, c X) x( A. y5 k
 Value the building on strengths of children, youth and families
