Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering

Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.2 P' x* Q8 @/ N3 T: {( N$ q

8 g. T- a d0 R' w" {! B+ `Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
) g: A' n4 l; ASummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Who can participate?
0 l8 j* {: Q* J& _ fAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

Volunteer’s Duties:

_1 N7 n+ E1 B/ _ Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
' y) A4 G" i, b Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development . M' C7 a3 Z) U& _1 v, J3 ?
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
; c1 f. v9 X5 q8 {- t, Z Facilitate or assist in small group discussions0 \# h M" x- @& |
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic: l" y1 O0 j! s9 y$ v3 A8 \: S" n
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
& f, i5 R% {! d8 w( b( n, @( m Assist in program planning [4 r1 r- {1 O1 x4 V" |6 X
 Be a role model

Volunteer Commitment:

! D6 S5 V, f2 h/ Y, ?1 _: ~% m+ r On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
* c6 f' V r+ h/ t) o ~1 R One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer
