1. It's cool:cool 是青少年(teen-agers) 常用的字,(有时也用 debonaire)7 y1 y& l; f- I

(可指人或事物)也就是 something good or acceptable;situation is under control;being calm, gentle, courteous or good-looking;meet teen's standard.
7 {9 U; b5 \4 E' R8 ]3 g4 q4 {1 S$ ]! s3 u4 A) X% Q' n
  That's cool;he is cool;this is cool.- h2 t  \9 T1 P3 b7 \# U8 E

4 L: x5 M- U# ^' U' H3 w  Skydiving (或surfing) is cool.(跳伞或冲浪运动很不错)* u4 G( Y8 W. l
' z& W' V  v) l4 h6 W
  主词可用任何人称的单复数 (I, we, they 等),动词可用 verb to be 的任何时态 (is, was, were, will be, have been等)。 K2 @+ `- ?4 @; I; W$ W7 }( x" G
, Q6 Y4 L  x. l) \+ f
  She (He) was cool in the past.
3 f4 F. c/ a$ _" S5 m' X
* O: _4 v1 n" `& c3 \6 [  That's a cool T-shirt.(好看的运动衫)
- x, m' C5 w' J, f% M5 R1 u+ \& @
. Q+ r/ k. L3 i6 ~9 z0 U  He (she) is a cool person.(文雅礼貌的人)
1 f/ ~- L0 G" j
* H8 q, ^" {  Q; d4 E0 E  但是如果说:Are you cool?又是指「你冷吗?」(cool = cold),可见 cool 当口头禅或俚语时,多半不用在问句。假如说:
2 |1 F3 Z* `2 `3 w& y# S. s- `- v. o7 Q* V5 n
  She looks as cool as a cucumber. 又是恭维语,是说她很 calm and charming; not7 f/ @# _- t7 C9 _! d* O+ c- u
( W3 D. G4 c  [+ W* R. `% a
  emotional. # t4 U9 l$ _  ^" ?9 N

2 A, q$ N" l( f& u1 f+ d" F  (注:许多华人把 cool 译成「很酷」)
$ K8 `& c, \: P. Q) g# C" x7 |
- E% \+ x; W% T! r3 o3 @; ]  2. Are you trippin'?:trippin' 这个字,是由动词 trip 演变而来。 这个字是现在分词当形容词用,是指行为异乎寻常,也许受到吸毒或喝酒的影响,而显得神魂颠倒、奇形怪状(to get high on drug such as LSD),也就是说:要不是受到药、酒的影响,你为什 显得这样古怪呢?(Are you under any influence of drug or alcoholic? Why are you so crazy and bizarre?)
+ T2 m" X- P4 \* p- z7 z9 R
# c0 D! S7 x# b  They are trippin'. (= tripping)7 \" J) z1 A- O, z& j+ K
! Q- `4 p4 |& F5 G. _
  She (he) is trippin'.7 Y7 |: q( F/ _. w" L) u
% V0 n# r/ [; m+ ?1 q0 A. \
  Mr. A must be trippin'.$ h3 p+ _" w7 g+ }: d) g# ?

- ^$ R8 G$ y6 s

' z3 c. L7 g1 [' \  \  3. He is a nerd:nerd (A person always buries his nose in books, but not good at social situations.) (IQ = Intelligence Quotient ; EQ = Emotional Quotient) nerd 可用复数,动词也能用其他时态。

0 J  b: n# r8 Y- L: r" _  He used to be a nerd in high school. (过去他在高中时是位书呆子). L$ k0 W. {1 o+ P7 \' i# f2 a
+ _# t! J# ?8 X8 r1 f# c& W
  Many Chinese students are(或 have been)considered nerds.5 e! \2 C7 T! y9 E& r$ [/ T
. t0 _6 W0 U! ]( {$ f  n8 _, E8 A

( p' I  R4 c' A3 q' B9 r7 l& j  He is a computer geek.

3 q/ r& l6 h, O& t/ d5 u+ U  I don't like him because he is a jerk.
0 u9 S) S! m  u$ L8 U% K# ?9 T& E/ M/ n- g6 W5 k
" e1 A1 R2 j$ ]) G# }' r4 N6 g; K4 B/ o( c0 m
  Many jerks are working in our company.! f. q" z2 D0 v; [) _* C
1 e  [. U' e8 n8 Q7 x
- M) n( N' y0 V6 \/ r
: I1 [# c( X( o1 K1 j5 B3 k4 p! D  They are jerks; He was a jerk in the past; Mr. A has been jerk for years.4 Q0 \6 @2 B" o, }; o. A$ }1 K

+ {2 ^2 S# a, |& l7 `" F  d+ u, E! `  (注:有时年轻人也用 dork 这个字,但不如 jerk 流行)
1 Q7 L% M' l0 }9 w) q8 y% i; F
* w" ]$ f- d, U  4. Yo baby:Yo baby 是许多年轻的黑人男子对女子的招呼语,也有人用“Yo baby, yo baby9 t. j/ O+ ?! r

- L0 \7 L. B1 H7 G yo”,由於女子很漂亮,很吸引人,他想与她交谈。(He thinks she is pretty and attractive, so he wants to speak to her.),也就是找话题,想要「打开话匣」。(to use as a form of opening line or pick-up line or to begin a greeting; try to know her or date her) 如果说:
/ u1 `2 P2 g1 \- _  G: d3 r
# a) s6 o" _2 ?5 \$ s  Yo baby, are you trippin'? 意思是:漂亮的姑娘,你的样子有点怪里怪气,有什么心事吗?& W- k  E1 ]: |: M" E( \
! m, o2 n: w* w+ O+ a2 k* C* i
  “Yo baby" 後面可跟任何可以「打开话匣」的句子。诸如:' w/ z1 L7 c# U- x2 k' d- H* \4 O

0 E4 ?4 L( e* _7 h# U9 I$ M  May I help you with something? I think I have met you somewhere before.
1 r2 G  }% Q+ [$ }, K- K/ M1 N& {8 M* T' L8 _. s1 W
3 t; s& Q! l; l& Y1 @: N
, \7 d5 |9 q; ^$ n  Hey, hey, hey, what's going on?“what is going on?”就是年轻黑人打招呼的用语 (a form of greeting or open statement) 或 Hey, hey, hey, are you going to the movie?(帅哥,你是去看电影吗?)+ R- y1 o, G  p3 T9 W# W) b7 e

8 Q9 g$ |& m  Q4 ?  5. Catch you later! (a form to say“good乡bye”) 也就是说:现在没有时间与你交谈,以後再谈吧!(I don't have time to talk with you now, but we can talk later.) catch 後面,也可用其他人称代名词(him, her, them 等)6 n: I4 m6 h1 `
, q3 M0 _2 D- F* |
  有时年轻小伙子也用:I am off. I am leaving now; I'll talk to you again.6 z! F! ~+ u/ |9 E( C: \3 o

- j5 s- T% O' Z9 v& Y4 a# e* ?
