Position: Outreach Worker

: j1 F0 _. n6 }6 k# h/ t4 FJob Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
0 t3 H' h! D0 A5 W8 R( V- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
1 a0 ^/ V  w! s! J-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
: [' y" t1 y) q- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
, C. D! E5 O: c7 |4 O8 L, Y2 P- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
( G% `9 v; x( J( r- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
) {! N8 _9 Z$ {& m) m  m7 B- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
# `& x2 T2 h+ |" R* b- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
% m) h0 l, k+ y9 j$ ~! a& T- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

" y4 f% G9 _7 q- `Qualifications
+ A7 O, o7 C* M8 T" h- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
8 d1 y. i6 @# v+ S; Y: k- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
7 ?3 }' L6 I; `& ?2 ], m! T- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
9 K( W0 L0 x" g# X* A- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
* m1 f* b, L* w6 ]2 [- good organizational and coordination skills
/ _6 E5 V& z, B! _" \- valid driver’s license

Other
0 p$ t, T$ Q4 V0 Y1 t! Y  D- Z- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
