Our government recognizes that the Internet and digital technologies are4 w* }) o" a. v
an increasingly important part of everyday life—including driving c, y6 I: A1 S; u% n( y
innovation, commerce and social interaction. As the government develops
9 u5 c) h( S" ]! I- n% O" e& kCanada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look
6 y: B0 ?" O/ `6 Bcarefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be- ]. O# `6 S: }+ n' J5 i
guided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and) l7 h6 Y$ a: Y5 R
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing
9 B3 Q6 U' ?" w$ t# xmarket forces to prevail.

) \" N7 n( h: A3 BThe Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has
* `5 q( c: L# _" wchosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large

any decision counter to these foundational principles be reversed.
