1 y7 X+ D5 n |Roles and Functions
0 B5 U% W: }! j+ W9 R3 e) I+ R& VThe Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the- @+ n' H* ^% V+ z6 k2 K% T
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
- X& `: U- v6 J3 A2 G0 S6 qoperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
9 P7 B+ v) c1 mthe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,/ X2 _8 O# K% Y- m
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular2 `3 {1 W) P; ^' d [- r
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
$ ]. G$ [3 ^- k0 k+ T; M: rconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an r) _' Z7 v5 g6 E7 D- E( D. U
employee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires% j+ ?& p& x: J6 @3 D* }
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
0 x# Q5 U) Q9 p5 F( Rall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

Functions and responsibilities:' T$ x2 m r) R
The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
- @2 e8 C3 N& U- u7 L9 q7 A1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the
& ?! }7 U' S& `officers of the Coalition
2 C1 s" k# z! b3 y: A2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural1 m; Z/ I6 t. P3 H: S# u
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
6 j1 b; G. N$ Pand public institutions
! ^: r R4 Y/ Q S+ [* A$ y3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
0 @) G0 {' @0 t) ^/ M7 y1 nfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
* Y: H% Y1 q4 M, K' x& E/ p( ~2 A& s4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community0 n! M: M/ c' |1 s& {" ]
organizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with. e& e3 w: l* @* H% Q2 h

Administrative responsibilities:
3 p, `0 ]& k$ ]3 Y1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
: `$ |0 D& V$ o3 a. |8 Mregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of) ]. Q6 R; a, ^
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the! Q& f" O' `& J4 K- ~6 Z% @7 u7 w
members of the Coalition’s financial condition., b% R1 l }4 K: V- L
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the
% r. H/ s6 i6 }1 t! }' W5 G9 BMulticultural Coalition
* V0 J6 x, T, URelationship of the Coordinator to the Board% l" l7 h0 F( c# _& D
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to6 F& i! f; S0 \2 B( t7 g# ^
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating X- y1 o! l! e" P4 O7 H
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.0 e1 C* y/ W$ x& Z0 Y9 s8 h; N
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and- y8 d- y$ T- B! ~1 |- m w. k
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
$ K2 N) k$ j. Bbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
6 ~( s8 Z/ M5 D5 D7 sparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and; P4 I* a8 k* l
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of+ ^: z9 o$ X. F* d
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial9 e0 L2 _4 y/ F
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all
) G( C8 m% L- c' R# \matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
3 N! z3 C2 U; `" h/ L: u3 [5 p2 Rdirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of9 b0 @; b) J4 O! O
policies already adopted

Pay Range & Terms
1 A- V# { ^+ f; V& v! P4 mThis is a 9-month contract starting April 11, 2011 to December 31, 2011, with
