Duties
: d8 x+ b/ U. j. H: U8 M; VDevelops and updates the graphic user interface including program interface (menus, dialogue boxes, file editing, etc.) using C++ or Java or other languages to allow users to compose run scripts and edit input files for a FORTRAN model
! Y1 {4 u8 h0 s7 ]$ m) QGenerates dynamic visualization of numerical output from the model using VTK or other visualization tools, linked to explanatory documents2 S4 P' K1 K. m* r( F9 w9 h& M- t
Works with staff in the MACI to determine ways to deal with the data and find innovative approaches of presenting results
- [" T, X& Y- ]8 P" tImplements interface and visualization on portable media (CD and website) for use in research and teaching; implements the mathematical model "ecosy" in parallel mode on computing facilities available7 n, T- J3 j% V1 ^
Provides technical support to teaching initiatives at undergraduate and postgraduate levels using the mathematical model with the graphic user interface5 y" R' t/ M/ Z' j# _7 o e4 A( g, }
Installs software and provides user support; liaises with users to enable their productive use of the software1 p4 q. y7 o* }( r6 u4 `
Qualifications: v% `% @6 v% W# ?. F/ q$ n
B.Sc. in Computing Science with specialization in interface development
+ H0 t1 `1 a9 D: e+ x6 fRelated experience with interface development; interest in terrestrial ecology and global climate change an asset# R, O6 j2 x4 Y6 a4 ^$ n+ ^* v
Programming in C++ and Unix, website development and maintenance9 ]# Z( x4 P: F4 u8 ]+ I
