FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

% L/ o- @& z; f& yDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
  Y: f$ e$ S2 N+ L# D• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
4 u; r( ]0 N; L4 A# `4 u• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
2 m& q$ T' i7 O' zBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
% n; T1 c. g4 Q; V• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.

: X2 e" {8 O8 d. W0 f1 f• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
) C- R% [5 |8 s• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
* S, T  R8 C3 L  Q  p6 K) v• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

3 K0 w% m" f( B" S6 `4 O' u0 {) I" `. ZSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
5 N/ i$ A6 m  ^. @) m• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
, |: W# p8 b5 G9 b) K' R• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
0 W* O9 p" {4 ]/ C1 i* H) ^/ F0 G• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
" p% V& f/ E% Y9 e  \/ J, S1 A• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
* v& |0 K2 t+ a) j9 o• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
