FUNCTION:
( y# Q; t/ b& W. f4 TAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
6 r+ k3 X1 A8 S. M• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
5 n) \( f1 f3 e, j2 v6 q/ F• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
. H% [' b, W, X4 @8 ~• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
8 X( e' P8 U' U& l• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
& n$ Z$ Y$ k. l( A2 E9 \- W8 }• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
/ T. X2 G3 W7 H3 E; C• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
! S# }# Y+ c9 O• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
) ]7 D% I! m+ A/ f• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

/ Q) ]2 Z; B+ v7 E2 f. o9 d; I$ h  RSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
# e, K( A) I& n) f• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
. O# @# h* N, a" Y0 e• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
& G$ b! u  C6 }. V) w' ^• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
1 A7 q# T- Y$ B* U$ E$ H• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
3 K7 U( P/ e7 e• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
' d- r' C3 T: v# p• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
# C/ x4 @- F6 n• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
2 H! j3 G: {/ h3 g, V% o$ e2 `• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
" r/ j! r/ E# l• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
