As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
/ q' Y5 T3 G* {" O9 h  L• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
' _) A% J; a/ e, r$ ~: ?1 D• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
) U( ?7 c% I% O* q• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
  O% D" a" m, z) j* w$ I9 H6 F• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
$ b# L3 A7 C- @• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
, g0 i, e3 a+ K• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
$ C0 n1 w! L( g& J; T; Z$ }* q• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
0 ^) v: i2 C& i3 ^) H4 Z5 q8 w• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
: [, u+ H, k% L/ l; N+ h- E• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
9 O& l. R- j& E• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
! Z- j3 p2 n' a$ r• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
5 a  }" ^# l5 q1 x+ S" }+ z• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
9 P4 N% n8 {7 Z0 q* v• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
4 U) r' H" y3 w2 N+ q9 @% H* l• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
