Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
! e4 O9 M2 `0 ?. M F, xThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, & [4 l; f9 I/ m# i
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social + k' ~5 ^1 d/ K8 `$ M
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
* P6 o$ N% j* {" pneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
& u2 y2 P# Q: Q" y: S7 xnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
3 s) x. L6 a( i/ Kassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Understands and adheres to professional ethics related to social work. $ _3 n" U4 G, t

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. $ R: P9 b) u y& a4 \
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental

Qualification ' M' {$ Z& \$ |! \" p
. I* J, B* R; _7 b% Q B" M Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
m& c1 S9 I2 L! z* Z Iexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. * I! C; b, x8 D
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
$ _/ H6 M$ t! ]# K" O1 Q$ e5 q3 Usupport needs 7 F% b3 j0 n0 H7 ~1 a- M
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications # C i! z3 B2 x' a3 Z
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
