The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
/ I( [2 f! A& B5 K5 _. K) Wnewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social ) H6 i3 e8 L4 `1 }2 L7 j' _
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
. w1 b" O$ c$ ?) kneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
8 q2 E3 I9 X( L; K# W6 I0 Gnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial $ a; t. W0 z/ ?6 t# P5 G: D
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-
# U+ M& Y, k: }6 rcentered delivery model.

Understands and adheres to professional ethics related to social work.

within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.

% g8 G! Z1 n5 I, {# h# J Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. - w( I' |5 V' E
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support ' a" Y0 Z6 s9 W" V) ~* n
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.
5 v( ]! V" S5 J! P: u Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental 5 ~1 ~6 o2 m V: C+ F! n* c
case plan support for clients who have complex needs.
* r) R, ^3 a& ?0 k+ L% q Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

# s% O; n. Q, x" R; v# X Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
0 a% w, N1 u$ ?4 v+ e) V9 bexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. ) Y/ {5 c6 V' g2 w
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family 7 F) I: p8 \ N! ]1 ~' {1 g
support needs
+ @9 b9 m3 H+ ?! ~ Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications 1 F/ C7 _* u f3 z1 U
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
