Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
: ?, R$ e' F, Y1 S5 acommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to 2 p8 w- `; A% T. c9 c! P
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

, V' z+ t/ e8 z5 a/ X6 d# v Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
+ q: \9 S2 G. w. U* x! AThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, " q; E: H, w, I% S- C0 c- i$ f
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
- A# G! F* Z/ U9 F. DWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 5 e$ K2 V5 \* m1 N
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
2 W1 B/ j9 o$ k3 x' y; @newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial 4 @. v. a- Y1 _! a8 m9 ~; F
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-2 g7 Q& B, ~# Z8 r+ C' N% M' i+ s
centered delivery model.

Qualification 4 Z( S2 a( i5 r6 Q) c
8 G7 V) s, n: u) \ Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
8 U: |/ T5 z" i3 c q/ \experience in Social Work or related human service fields. 8 c( p: A2 \7 O5 H) e
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family ( l; `% d7 c, \" e* y
support needs 7 Z+ L3 h$ O% m
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications 2 d0 n' ` k- y
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages ! ]5 S& @7 E) ]
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate + e& q. f2 _- k
insurance coverage for work ) a# f' F7 H* O0 U7 P" s- ^7 U
+ J! B# h! W( UExperience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field ! p7 H# w$ K4 h" |4 q
