Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 8 r# d4 h, E# f( \( {; `: `/ S% {
execution of the YWCA Strategy

9 K6 e v; M1 T5 }Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 4 }# W* U, |% U) s2 Z' n) x
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
}3 U7 k5 A: m( I. Bthe Board of Directors; " a& \! R! E3 l
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 ?, k2 {; q! x) eincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
2 Q& b& G: |( t8 h6 g1 C: \enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
( i& s* f% o* z- g' F• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
' w5 _9 M, t& ^3 \objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by % Y4 U3 V+ `: e$ K

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
1 q7 b$ N' s, v5 ?: ?• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
9 b1 H) r. Y* F" i2 rthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 7 Z( P/ L8 R# c$ P' W; X
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the ) c7 A0 o5 F" L! u2 e, T+ C
changing needs of the organization and community;
' Y9 f/ n+ g/ E. |& b: e$ R• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 5 O/ ] b: U; ~" o& k
commitments; 0 m# `4 Q) B h. ], j+ j
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
1 N% y9 {# P. ?" I6 ^ z9 i+ T" u3 U• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
# F9 M3 o0 _. Q# r. K4 h. X8 J% aselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; " D0 P% I9 ~0 R, q
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
! }" j: \! e- e& Q• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
) i, [3 U y& D. R6 Fthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; 7 q% e. O% W7 s# E; r. J& g, d6 h
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
; D# A' x* h: L1 N2 {! J2 pperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 3 D2 \0 o' ]3 G7 ]
the forthcoming year; $ {- Z. m! c* e+ q) Q6 S1 s
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
( ^& ]8 {0 E5 p7 K' l6 n v! Hpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
* M: `1 k: M+ g$ _' g8 s U4 fYWCA Canada; and 6 J. B* `8 W) U# X: q7 j2 J
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. , V+ Y }( x; N, @$ x
% Y% H0 @ |4 x' O$ v2 }7 MRequired Experience ; r/ ?3 y0 ]3 h a+ H( m
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 0 x( R$ V9 q4 n8 W) Q: ]& r1 s
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation + N; `$ D( U" U" R, g& a8 L! w& ^
abilities; ! y6 Y7 w7 J; k+ P9 U6 L/ t+ K D% E- m
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ( g! T: d+ g) `4 a5 _
Networking and Fundraising; ) R. w" t1 j* r" L& e: `, g
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 4 T9 j5 k5 b3 u E! ~
and financial statements; and
