CALGARY - A fire has halted operations at one of Suncor Energy's two oilsands upgraders north of Fort McMurray, the company said Tuesday.

No one was hurt in the incident which happened after a fire broke out around midnight at its upgrader #1, Suncor said. t: J7 q8 O5 B% R$ t& T H3 J: M
$ E* u3 U) R) RThe energy giant said the 125,000-barrel-per-day unit was shut down after the fire, and it is currently assessing damage.. M! E) B: z7 G& b5 |7 B& ?
6 V l0 G; j/ u; B: {Suncor has been plagued by a series fires at its oilsands operations in the past five months, suffering three fires since October in the upgraders which convert bitumen into synthetic crude oil.
