Responsibilities
! }- [3 W4 @( _( HIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
5 V0 j. H% q/ q) A7 c. TPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
5 S% H& P3 K. O: tAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
! w s- ^- n$ z. l- n9 fOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. % M9 ?$ I/ U0 {; z! p* Q
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 8 Y V& r; H) o" D3 h1 K
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
3 s7 _; s+ i% v- s8 h4 QExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 9 K" U: f! z5 w
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
! L" n: e! G4 O( D, KDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
- b) e- Z: m9 _ t) WAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
. A2 v" H- s$ X2 I7 H9 ?Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
; q1 \2 Y3 s8 y4 P9 QEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ' o; E H, L: ~% ^0 R" W: D* O
Qualifications
; P' V0 _9 ]- ?9 j, XA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. : a5 i( t: d( C
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
|% y' M* w) v; ]$ gPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. # ~1 D9 O K! t$ p
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 0 a; ^& ], o ?5 O' \3 r) z
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 5 C8 }7 J7 ^( \( [: T5 c% _9 _
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
