In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
3 K5 P7 I# a# F% T6 WPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
! W' t# C) D" x, [Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
: D8 O) h: X" I3 `) vOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ! q) X4 k n* u! I9 N
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
5 L1 L2 z% S7 N: X! C* sMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ( ]2 s* C% L% m1 t2 A. B+ p [
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. - V1 B, R0 _1 K. T: W; d
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. - G0 J/ ?1 O5 ?$ B
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
! U' C( V) c2 ?: ?Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
/ {5 x: N+ |0 c7 Y" y ?! b: q( LIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications , g, N- A. B/ b+ Y
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
/ f) {7 P! z( t$ {! WPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. . A9 J8 W K; [2 b
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
2 Y6 q' T; C* y! D- C8 g$ kPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. / W2 g- s+ w. e; K
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
