Responsibilities
3 {* Z. f2 a- x% V5 b8 ]2 e: y- _In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
x; s3 f ^# tPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. " o, o: D; o0 f" u2 g
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
- Q9 ], t' N0 ~& A1 V1 SOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
7 x, J S/ z( [9 pMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
4 h9 T b% Q2 `' MMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
4 H. S$ C q+ `9 D1 `3 sExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 1 }3 K+ f) Q8 L# G- F1 ~1 t. f
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
- q A% a6 |. A0 ^5 J7 t. k& ~Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
" D8 O$ K4 Y; G' v% X G1 w$ ~: h) iEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 1 c7 O' Z) y/ Q
Qualifications
2 v% D8 |7 z# S1 w7 H, gA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
: g) w' y7 H) U8 Y N3 p2 B5 ?Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
5 C) A6 T. M& E M: uPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 6 s6 m( A7 f* |
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 2 I3 C- x; \' Z& E" N4 D' Z* U: N
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. " J }# p. {' ?5 X
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 7 j$ Y5 W, q) C6 w( Y5 G& h: }; a
