Responsibilities + a8 {0 p5 l0 J% z0 ^0 \
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. " d( ? ? v1 D1 W
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
; ?- o8 j3 Q! K2 Z9 ~8 lAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 2 }5 x1 @1 p& ?7 t d& l
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 5 f. s2 o5 N; M) ?
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. - J6 L9 y8 b/ Y3 u
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
( `2 H6 E7 B# n. @# UExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
# u: x& i( W* }& p& p/ w. U0 s) HEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. M- ~, O# \6 f! @
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
; m) h, W+ W9 q& t7 a/ wAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
: G _ z6 l& x4 ^Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. - _" J- Y! K" R1 x# p: n
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
9 K- x& {3 z" iQualifications
: j W" t2 l: G9 aA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
* R* w; `/ _, mPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. P+ f1 V' k2 N3 y
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
: ?: {) _9 u- t) X/ ^Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. . D* b2 B6 J. ^, S
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. , c( p- p& u3 v+ c+ ]
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 1 f( W. A; J( N9 B
