A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.# m# V* ]6 f9 B/ i6 Q4 m/ X, t8 X

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.
* u8 y* R& u' r6 J W7 g' z5 gNo illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA).

9 p# c0 k8 t9 i, a) w. WIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.5 B9 i) b7 i) `5 `/ R

CFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
