PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. — A strong earthquake occurred early Tuesday in the Queen Charlotte Islands region off of B.C.'s central west coast, according to Earthquakes Canada.$ L, O* {+ v9 o& [! A4 A; c6 u

An earthquake in this range is classified by as "strong" and "may cause a lot of damage in very populated areas," said Earthquakes Canada.

According to the Geological Survey of Canada, the Pacific coast is the most earthquake-prone area in the country.
