In this and any flu season, it is important to take responsibility for
) C7 P% S6 b% F$ Byour own health. Alberta Health and Wellness points out that the( U6 ~2 G; V# i x# E! y& W
influenza virus is contagious and is spread person to person via close0 ^! O) p8 x/ B$ m0 }6 y: N# `6 d
contact. The virus also rests on hard surfaces such as counters and
; V4 N( x' m: x0 \# u7 e7 ]& W9 bdoorknobs and can spread when people touch contaminated surfaces and
4 U; t% S, M3 l( r6 W" Ethen unknowingly transfer the virus to their eyes, nose or mouth.7 Q, \ n5 O, X) k
Practicing good preventive hygiene (e.g., wash your hands and cover your
" y. S& M% ?( ?( X+ Z1 bcough) and following the self-care practices as outlined by Alberta/ j( s3 u2 W- A: }& ]6 |
Health and Wellness will greatly assist in minimizing the chance of$ H% h4 r! E8 f) N
infection.
