This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
$ h/ c( D! I; V# `7 U5 P' JEligibility Criteria
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
7 I* ~% V  t- T' `% ^) [5 K. ?9 E•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English
1 p& p9 P8 q' i& \( h) e•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
! b5 |7 {6 `/ l# w% P% F+ `4 g•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
$ H  B) q& c* x: X6 X•Be eligible to work in Canada
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop
•Lack access to professional networks
. G" \2 Q; V# `6 g9 Q7 i( t•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning
Time Commitment
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months.  This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
