24 HOURS OVER 4 MONTHS
" g; v8 n& u- i3 W+ j5 ^ ]This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
7 [3 I& w0 ~+ e/ z7 }) A9 sEligibility Criteria
' T/ S1 O9 n0 r; p2 C% uAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
- R& Y0 f$ Z/ e3 m7 o E•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less8 ]& [2 a: Q5 g. x6 I
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
s/ `0 q! h( y2 f1 q* J3 J•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English
i- e. I4 u7 g- k3 L+ H1 E+ ^$ {•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
( o, E& m% Y0 H; s•No prior Canadian work experience in their field) z' f1 H1 w1 @) i8 d
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less1 v* q6 |5 ~* m! f9 }# ?
•Be eligible to work in Canada, S8 G E5 B3 S6 w
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop' x( k( g4 ]5 `8 n
•Lack access to professional networks- X/ \$ J* i& B7 J7 J; y
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning
/ U, a6 p; H A `) s) ATime Commitment/ U% o3 [; A$ s
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.2 h B" O/ r! `8 O; l2 i# N$ O
