Duties

0 _: i# H. p( T6 e% v * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
- ?- m* P. ?4 l) b * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr/ @& \; v! S& g
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps! m6 l7 t- s0 U5 P3 o& ~
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations c: I7 `1 n3 h0 O" t
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations

Qualifications4 l1 }/ V* g; d* C$ s4 J
0 @" S+ E; J) | T+ y
* Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
( f8 w: T; C/ l& j * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
9 \: d' F% `" t9 Z; p * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers
: a# a W6 e* b! ?4 K * WHMIS training
, G+ w* X/ U) {1 C/ p3 A7 f+ u * Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
