Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

& M8 o! e4 u5 n+ zKey Responsibilities Include! `/ t) j5 Y0 x6 y# c+ r
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
[8 z) }' i& I• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.% R- v& ?: m( ~0 u. O4 x) V
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
& ~8 H6 @/ L9 E1 h• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, - Z( r2 f9 @. P) g4 B
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants./ z2 @7 e3 u L3 x4 G" c! I
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
# @# E/ V4 b2 p/ o0 o1 N" u4 |• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.6 |3 N% S; A$ D

The successful candidate will have:
' e+ H$ Z% G" C* A8 \• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
6 R3 J1 G" E* k0 J• Experience with children! G3 h% ^7 f6 T8 \7 r* j
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
( o. H+ m+ k9 f% D( I! ]6 ~- Y• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
* {+ ?: N, L6 v2 P- d; f8 ^6 }0 `• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.0 }% f% e0 F* v; X) Y
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources) Z3 }' l& C, t: b2 V" A8 y, U( G
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 0 x: `: i+ n0 K* V# e5 q
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check 2 J# h; K: t. N
