Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Activity Planning and Daily Activity
3 [- v2 \8 V( V/ y7 @• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
' D# u! g5 l/ V" @• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
$ M' y/ u V9 X3 E# q8 @4 k• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, . @# @; Z0 N: ^4 N% J+ P
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
- G+ u4 Q, r) p: r) J, D$ ^• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.+ I0 P' V% z- I4 |/ H- } U
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

: V2 W0 d4 j5 @% f• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
$ f% j9 }6 i4 C# _• Experience with children/ j8 }0 t/ {4 k# Y$ M8 N
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
: T8 Q6 `- l8 h' X• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.# o/ t+ U( P# L; P
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
& ?+ M! o1 t( F+ V• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources* _( q7 Q/ y% I2 q, ]8 l" ?
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
- {- b3 b3 E) c5 R" w• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
