Many vietnameses are in this business and are making much money. I am sure you can beat them if you would do a neat and better job. It is not a good idea to work for somebody in the plants/trees business (including greenhouses, nurseries, tree farms etc) ,you would almost for sure to make a humble living. I myself had ventured that direction and can hardly make much more than the minimum wages even though I had finished 2 landscape design courses (with 2 certificates). Keep in mind: be a landscaper, not a landscape designer, a landscape designer makes no money.

This is my 15th year in Edmonton and taking some part time jobs for now to make money for groceries (I do whatever I know how and not too labour intensive works like fence painting, repairs, small jobs alike that other people don't wanna take, mostly referred by friends or people who know me) I was not in the landscape trade before but gardening and growing plants have always been my hobby/interest since I was a kid. That is why I decided to get some training in landscape design after moving to Canada with a hope that I can start a career related to my interests but failed to do so. I am still an active gardener and orchid grower though.
