FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
0 R9 I; v0 ?& h  M/ s, Oartists from Northern Alberta.

) [2 j9 D7 T8 |- ?. H8 `9 g0 fFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
' V# k- [- j: R  N! B/ L  `  \and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
' ^% X# T/ H+ {9 ~$ N3 Oresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
; P) |8 q4 |5 Xscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
7 m2 ?& `5 Z. ?% Y* E' \$ ~Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ z0 x" }5 r& Dassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
2 a$ d/ o# M! V0 @, W- j- C- Assist with research on acquisition grants
1 I2 k3 q$ V0 z5 \- q5 f- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
  Z4 Y% D. i9 n- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
# S6 m- V) \6 h- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
0 L# Y" Q6 f) f  Y( J4 k# y- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
3 t2 k2 R, v6 b# f% l. t- Provide vacation relief
& o% P! Z+ d: g5 W, ^$ i0 v
Details:
" x4 t6 {" x' T7 c- V! U5 @- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
. n4 z4 v# s6 d' N% R- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
" h$ L8 T- p8 M- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

8 K5 W: v7 _2 K0 G8 @Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- c1 w/ N1 e1 B- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
8 r- ?0 e- E. Y  h; d- T; p- Advance organizational and research skills
4 q! |6 T" U# D) b' X( N8 \- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- b5 _7 m. e& `" |& d8 U' Q- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
