FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
3 O+ }) V8 K& ~ j# @3 D' mwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
# d; {- J/ N2 Q0 v9 lartists from Northern Alberta.

) A7 T/ ]4 S" R5 q! O- b; NFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 ]4 a* [' u+ d$ T9 F* J* qemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 q/ V5 Y6 G$ T& G2 Sand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " X, a2 V# m. A, F$ ^+ d# u; p+ @' c! d
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and : J% X/ f1 Z, W3 o1 ~( g
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 9 Q; z# L2 q4 Y& [3 q
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 0 ?3 l+ B* g) b8 }2 m9 r
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. . y' i! k) d4 W
& k8 O+ @2 }* D; c9 l- P% T8 gDuties: ! z8 \/ h6 Y7 ]* I
- Assist with research on acquisition grants ( n" G- z9 u3 Y/ j6 Z+ }4 M" b; ^
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
# y/ l5 }/ h4 m; F: o0 f- Assist with equipment maintenance 4 U2 H2 P# q- o* R8 F2 i
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. v6 _! w* M' t$ H- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 3 P* I. p) I+ I% x+ i2 v& c
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: ' ~# b" G# K9 x+ s% o6 W
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
g) c- f& T! Q2 m1 @- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment G5 [8 V" y1 I& m
- Advance organizational and research skills
8 T5 x& T" p% X7 E- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
" e1 K9 J3 D, D& g5 N5 p- Strong team player abilities * V. b1 ?/ }) @ ^! U7 l
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors * f+ o3 e0 q& r# Z1 a9 ~# H0 d( g# T
