9 s$ n& c: ]! S. Y# X* W1 _FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

' O; a9 R$ f8 {3 F# J! _FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
3 k; l/ }4 p" |2 {# ~and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
( H- G. O, n$ a- t4 L! a* o( Hresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
% f. C4 V0 P, Q  ^$ o- qscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
1 t% J5 c% L' h+ I3 j  U2 jAlberta.

' y, o0 W0 |( N" t$ Y  LJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
3 Y& q8 r$ @* W/ WDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
2 b7 U+ _. g3 p8 f' f9 Zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
/ K2 q8 R" T4 z' m% V1 e& j- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
/ I2 o) \& X7 M- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- t2 m& }8 t5 o- Provide vacation relief

/ Q7 H0 V# ?& e- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
0 \0 _( g! o/ w: @6 D$ O- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
0 r$ K9 [) q2 ~$ r% Tsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- U. g6 {1 Z8 f# W- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
2 o- |3 ^, Z* D  \: D. b5 }- z- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
  L5 n$ s3 ~. {" G. s- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
