FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.
; x% b" S/ H$ w/ P/ S
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
4 O1 N$ F% O+ w3 Q: v9 Mscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

( h; k) W! X$ G8 v, A9 ~Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
; H2 H. t* w  C8 d. ^Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
4 P) M0 Y/ F( T3 \, ~. A' Hassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

3 F$ N; g7 q/ [; S5 w3 tDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
. Z4 `; e$ c3 r8 R+ y9 d- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
+ F( a0 s- [0 ?% B$ M+ A- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

# j0 l- N3 o" N! W- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Y, n/ r( T% T6 G: j; y: n- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

* h: W3 @8 R- ]; c; fQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
; \4 e' E- ]) q  O" ?/ T) O- Advance organizational and research skills
& c/ N* k# i: i! W0 @- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
& W* {2 n( N0 y& G3 [- Strong team player abilities
/ p5 z) h! t' }- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
