FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization " y2 K9 `# Q7 i# n2 x: X4 M2 R
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media ( n4 ?9 u5 T9 ]0 y( H0 j+ }
artists from Northern Alberta.

$ B6 e2 y# J- g5 z4 N9 Z( ^FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 @& e, Y9 r' A4 }7 g$ Wemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
( P) r% e! P' G1 n; }, Xand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
( U9 G5 U5 z& ]+ w( jresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and s+ g( e% h. P" N/ ^
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern / i' P$ `2 i7 i# U' j5 q

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive / S1 A1 w! v8 [/ ?
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. S) O" ~( [- H1 Z" Uassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 5 u- b- `- |1 q% W# w
! a) B' L" H c; P
Duties: ( B3 g( z D! a# w+ \7 Z& c, U
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
, l- i0 p, ~, S( R; r- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
% k: @- z. }9 e7 _6 _, q) P$ J7 ]1 p- Assist with equipment maintenance ; k' ~7 P0 J9 E( K0 C1 y2 }7 A: K; K3 Z
- Assist with production logistics for programming events ! J9 E8 v( s) o9 a
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
$ R3 s2 t4 b- ^1 _$ N% h- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
% O \ z: P; D& q# V1 y) l- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
3 f' m. f' p$ b- k5 J- f9 U/ F- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
3 w# V; X( \6 L' a6 Y* a' d8 Q- Advance organizational and research skills
' G0 h* O: ?2 L# \/ h% w3 Z- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
3 a' q, `3 `$ @6 t' A9 E0 x7 F- Strong team player abilities
