Duties
/ q( ], M5 s1 z7 O$ c( g
H" m4 N3 F* R# [ A. ~ * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications( }: u: y& b; V) ]
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
' P j; H+ f+ e2 A: M/ _ * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
6 y. l6 K5 `- x# X& J8 N * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
8 r8 ]7 t& z6 Y0 @9 P N * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
