A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.

The program includes the following elements:
& [. Z+ f/ y9 j! ] P• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)9 W+ g- w7 o6 W. z- j7 B/ x
• Standard Child Care First Aid
/ Z& H9 X# W: y; b• WHMIS) |* k) |) i7 ~" x
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care6 J3 ]5 N) Y& B6 i# B' x( {" ]
• Components to improve communication skills
8 y' w8 H9 B3 A/ K+ f6 @/ p• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search/ J/ A' L: T2 [3 B+ k6 z* m
• Practicum Placements2 @: _1 k5 o) l! w2 J
Eligibility Criteria
* q* p: q# X/ b; F! i6 i* W6 E• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
. u2 l3 d0 S7 |/ C0 H* {& hof Canada3 P) T' @8 i5 v1 T
• have a Social Insurance Number
! d: `( H0 X( Z$ ~• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
) R5 a) r: Q) D• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
s' J" p; B$ ~0 Z• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time" _& N& e8 l( o' ?

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
9 A ^! N' s. B1 W8 Tthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:2 t9 E3 T* C! ]4 `5 O' Q
• be unemployed or underemployed.) U- T6 s( G" m
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course. y' ]$ z) w1 L4 R' S5 z. d' I
