“self-inflicted” has the connotation of creating theunnecessarypain for one self.1 r4 A5 e6 e" I# L8 L. a* a1 y5 @
: Z+ O4 p7 \; `; w 折腾 in Hu"s speech has a strong connotation that such kindofsetback is self-seeking instead of being due to theinterferencefrom outside.+ F# r! Y. v0 x# H

“Setback” is a much better word than “trouble”, whichanunseasoned translator would like to use in the firstinstance.“Setback” especially refers to the obstacle ordifficultyencountered in achieving a strategic goal. |
