In the first incident, a 30-year-old man is dead in what police are calling a "gang motivated" shooting near Whitemud Drive, the Edmonton Police Service said in a press release.

The driver of the car was found dead at the scene.

0 F; U. E$ q! Q8 n# M3 `Meanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue.

Upon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.9 z) X& r8 d( l+ E! q ]1 c
& x7 Q+ F1 }, ?: y$ Y, NHe was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.* A/ ]* L2 R( `

A police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.' m" R% t" Y( c" U( e6 {+ r
