    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region+ P8 m: x2 j% j& M! ]
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group1 G: f% @5 X2 v' ]# q
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
6 N+ z/ w0 N; }) \8 E* v) K    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
* V0 Q3 c/ Z8 u    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director5 a# p" O: \! @# z
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
" J/ I  A7 a+ {: x: x    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
9 p% }  L. {% P/ U, t    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program' Q  V$ V. x, C) B7 ~7 t
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
, w" k) `9 ^5 d3 f0 J0 I2 c    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
! k7 b* a; G: T1 a5 y% [    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs) J3 Q6 o6 \! R* _$ h
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly' L1 e! H: }3 h, H4 [
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications  Z5 }2 @! }: M, X3 U% l5 z

1 T4 L# G( o+ q, K" i  ]" d    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline  O) F0 t6 }' b: {+ H! o. e/ i, y6 V
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth8 x  H- `; ~  F% O7 l
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
) P9 O  Z1 ]' I( ^, e    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
: D- m5 D; V/ g* [) ^0 y* L    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
* c) g- s- ^3 J2 y+ G4 n    * Fundraising skills an asset: G8 c. j4 f. v$ E0 e7 X
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
% E5 d/ s5 y$ G( Z% `" z    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills4 l' i% B! x. }' s4 O
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
. L, G3 s1 m3 n" X. A- n    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
! N7 ?8 D+ l' y5 X    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset: w& E% }6 G. B9 U" @/ D2 q
