Duties: H& R$ i* C8 c& p

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region) Y; T" L8 ?( E+ |/ h3 S: a; {
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group& S/ \/ y! M: P
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
/ R9 J% G6 O, h* r3 T    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
. Z; ^" o0 H1 E3 c    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director/ E& x- Q; `+ t
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
; E% s; N5 `& }6 m' \: p    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
4 y9 I. C$ o/ w6 N% ?7 c6 F    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program+ {/ j- E4 Z0 \5 M
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
4 O/ b/ z; }$ N; ]    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports: d/ `1 `' r% P" x4 o
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
' H3 g# l2 @+ n* n    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly8 ?& M5 i, R; ~3 w, D5 k/ \5 D% S- Z6 |
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications
3 W9 H+ e# o* D2 i( T8 _: }
) v- `8 X* s5 L5 L    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
7 y* ?. E+ Z3 \9 e9 ~    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
4 b% Z" q7 M8 g! Z    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies' n  K' N% j8 [8 o. p% [9 _. B0 n
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
# c1 j$ _! R3 ]3 Q, v    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community0 _$ N& j$ R0 t+ j1 T" @8 W+ S
    * Fundraising skills an asset
( M/ \8 \6 B/ Q( U/ m! Y7 i7 \    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills7 Y/ {; Y: R. d( s1 n9 N% V2 A
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
* m" l4 K) @5 |& ~! L    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
