* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
- l% V( A3 T: ?; b; \6 c. J0 B' ` * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
- \3 a4 I4 @3 {9 ]7 j0 @* }! y1 U * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
& O' C" a+ ~5 W2 F6 Z g * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client3 N- c- t: V# Q) u
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry2 h/ ]4 p& K7 u. O( M# N
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals! ?7 e1 L7 @2 C
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab3 }; K2 q, c, c( b) N1 W! K# Z, S, c6 A
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
4 w v! I. n- d * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)/ q& I# d1 z" A: S1 }& g6 J
6 f+ l1 J5 j/ w& b2 BQualifications3 s+ @% Z r c! I$ V
& J5 u2 T: _ _( A% G/ I! Q * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred* ~9 J K/ h: ~8 R; ]- Q- D
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)8 F ~, P N+ [! H# i7 o( }' C8 M
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel2 l* U0 K+ S' F, v
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
