As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies. This includes:

· Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.

5 L+ ^' b6 R( K· Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.) h" B! a7 X! B$ ?) w6 G/ }% ?- h
1 Z5 w) w: ^; L }! ^· Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.

· Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.8 H( ?8 C: r4 S5 ]* u$ b

· University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.) t; @1 v: b2 A9 ?# D' G
; M, p D6 d' U( A· A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field., k0 |" L& Z" ~- S
6 ^$ C h2 ?) U· Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.% p3 z) F i1 w% j+ B

· Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

· An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.
