Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community! l/ f2 W; o5 N9 W: n& {; r
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
6 x0 w5 m& \ A7 j6 G+ O% [- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services3 T0 |' ~7 K7 `4 t% P
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

' H3 _0 \1 B- l$ p; D0 W- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members8 z. K z+ M. C0 K2 l
- submit information for community news

, {) R/ T, G5 z+ o! z- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.$ r, \9 v1 Z; [1 P* \& p
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre3 E! V0 C, H( w( S
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services- {$ o5 Y4 D7 m/ O# z: z
- assist in writing proposal for ISP0 G; z0 n9 @$ c1 Y/ I' K
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team1 S, Z# g, a# i* C5 a
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications
7 G7 N4 z E2 A2 m! Y- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
; x! H: S7 P3 u- good oral and written Chinese and English skills3 D; b( m4 s1 r# r+ A( c. g
- experience in community work and immigrant services+ L- Z* S3 [) a, S b& U0 L4 k
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars9 x- v6 N1 K4 S+ ]0 ^4 W
- leadership skills
