Position title: Community Development Worker

P8 H4 U# @4 R: h9 |. d) S5 ZPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community; s. }' e4 m3 d2 A- c) {% W$ X4 G
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
1 X- m1 y; O" l, J+ W- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
. }# y( ^. W0 f- f* K1 w- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies8 t& \5 m6 R: G+ N6 ~7 K. Q
- coordinate good will activities: V+ D" d5 A( u! g
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
" U) L/ X9 c4 |$ P5 P! h5 _- submit information for community news
' Z% D" k' h( M/ C- prepare and send AGM information to members
" V4 {* o! `& g& u- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.# Z/ g, v6 ~+ r
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities: ~7 j& T+ z4 p6 s* s
- update ASSIST website
% w0 n* M+ M0 \1 A' M- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP% t/ ?1 `' t' B0 J
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
# O4 y$ v, P g- explore new ideas for ISP
4 t+ G. e; A( a" X( @# e, M- hold regular meetings with ISP team
- ? t6 l4 V5 B- z6 F- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time, s! Q8 v, W& t+ ^/ o
- update membership database

" K/ n) W6 k% \: _- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
# n7 Z3 ~' y% s- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
3 F: l! C5 m' B- experience in community work and immigrant services6 t$ n9 \0 j; z% d9 Q! }! b5 }
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars; r5 o1 l$ @: r9 }& l
- leadership skills0 O4 k* b! _* m) r) r
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills p8 W& [+ C. O& B b6 w
