Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
! Q' ]& o8 X- y/ ?- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services: ^- x i t% G; R& M) P5 r+ X8 h
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
( h; W( u. s/ R+ ?0 E8 @- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies7 J7 [5 O: C5 ~' F: Q$ q
- coordinate good will activities6 C) @( o' h! i# B; T
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members9 a0 C+ c9 O- o$ F
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website

- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

. k- A( O1 |- _5 U+ F$ Q- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
- s9 j5 v4 t5 O/ _5 L: a3 N2 x. E- good oral and written Chinese and English skills+ a; ~3 T: I* e p; A" c' O0 y4 m
- experience in community work and immigrant services
# J3 I3 F R+ g7 s# W! l- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars1 m* V- [3 m% [9 C/ S
- leadership skills6 g/ ?$ E. A; e9 g6 I- A3 J
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
