The duties of the Operations Manager - SU Venues are diverse and

financial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as
5 C4 a8 X; ^- Qthe logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional

safety regulations and building policies.

2. Marketing and Promotion" C* i0 }" b2 ^" C/ f7 ~
5 e6 S9 s* L% d& f' z+ Sa. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that
0 W& n0 E# C, ~5 p1 c1 j" Kfocuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty,
6 h$ r0 [6 P* X, Bstudents, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
. L& ]1 ~, x9 o, O' aThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
; B! P* C9 C9 b! [( F· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
4 m4 \6 s' c% r9 o0 jTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to - w* m; C# I- O% |* D8 U: k/ l+ c
take advantage of other internal and external advertising
7 `' a1 j# C; P9 Iopportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional

· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.: w/ l2 j6 F* q+ U- N* y
· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the $ K5 [' k5 m8 c8 R
use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities
( L% t' K( F6 M M4 G3 L0 f; e
$ m) G& |% o# N" V S( Ba. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
( ?: I8 g% O2 t4 U/ }: ~) Z' Aeffectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
/ i3 X! b, g8 F5 G7 yvenues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and ) R, O+ `6 \4 B2 G4 b/ l$ E
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of ; v" z/ j" U b3 A- B
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited , O9 Z* D2 h/ N3 D- c8 |; N
to, the following:
$ i7 B( o- W- O- R· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
: g- Y j+ Z, _: tand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, 3 b4 J m0 t+ V* J5 p
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.0 X' z3 q# W. {4 @' E
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at % j8 x* a2 I. K( L0 [2 X. L x) n
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such 0 C8 v, A# U$ i4 j
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
, d0 E9 @$ N+ S! U/ s9 ?cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it . n5 _4 c2 H- K7 M( Z2 n; P
is in operation or needs to be in operation.+ s5 f8 n A9 c8 Q+ S
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure
4 }% H, o! P3 V5 l6 O* C% U$ @that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to 6 E6 X' G/ P! y
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
6 o1 G- o/ d; V% ^7 xrenters needs are met.1 M3 i+ Y% ^+ o9 d4 @$ ^0 G/ W
· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
0 ?& z4 X0 `3 Y0 x' land attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of
+ P4 G* C3 f2 ?* o* ^! u& q+ S& Dthe roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
( S {. \5 t1 G* J' ueffective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
( E* _* n# x4 Y1 g6 x p; I5 o \appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

excellent customer service to all renters.

· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure

includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:

operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of

Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance & 3 L. r; R$ _: g: f0 |8 P
Administration prior to their submission for final approval.
! J. c" C7 P- n· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively 9 r* g5 S* g8 k/ Z
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects
8 z8 e" r# g3 N( ^2 t: g: S# Hthe best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.6 v+ a7 O0 d7 h& R" @
· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and
) W. ^0 B9 o: S& s6 w: D% I# eadministrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the % Q z2 i1 W) v2 j6 n" J
compilation of monthly and annual financial statements, and such

· To discuss those financial statements and other reports, together

costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and

· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with - c6 z/ n1 [. \
the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial

contributes positively to the smooth operation and success of the

5. Overall Roles and Responsibilities7 `+ ~) ]+ a9 i" q s. h1 e- E
a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in 9 `- z+ Y6 i) K, n
renting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and
3 F6 {3 G% ~% Q' V* `/ h% `needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the
' Z* t' D7 Q4 f4 {2 _8 ivenues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes 3 D5 h5 P3 M4 C2 r$ e7 @+ E
in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,

together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary

. }- |# N3 g0 cfunctionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.

( M! e/ p1 e3 s4 U* \( Das may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost- , A) B0 n4 r* i/ X- T! p- y+ w7 m

· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to
2 q9 b! ?8 \+ @ U6 I2 O+ ]dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.8 }4 N/ r; f- @6 ~- v5 j
· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and
$ d! K1 l, F( M5 }& D5 O3 X$ |2 Kthat such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.
( u8 |5 N; q2 t% d· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their
+ t+ k9 L9 N9 ]! Fparticular event in the venues.

supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the 0 E7 ^) r6 K4 e: W
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.1 [& T' k9 N8 ]6 P) b3 c* i
· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular ) P, O! d5 A; A& d3 g& _
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.6 V* s8 X( B( N& U
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the $ G* v: B9 U! w1 }2 w6 d1 D
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately / E _0 S# V* z6 S" I, n
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in / b6 J9 k2 X' _, w
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.& i* \7 r$ \1 L7 E$ Q; K
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, $ Y8 X8 S4 k) q
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that 7 n" [# U( @& t) b; M; W1 H# S* F
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision - v+ H: [/ B$ r! Q- f
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of 4 @) P/ p5 v( [' V& D
Programming and Venues.

significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of

may provide such challenges and/or problems.

1) Minimum two years related post secondary education, or

2) Supervisory experience.
