Sex charges have been stayed against a prominent breast cancer researcher at the University of Alberta.

In February 2013, Zhixiang Wang, 53, was charged with sex assault and sexual contact with a minor.

Wang's preliminary hearing was supposed to begin on Thursday. Instead, the Crown prosecutor stayed both charges.
