孩子进入重点班

Let me continue it...

After I visited the school, met the principal and visited the class with my daughter, I immideately knew that this is the most wonderful program for my duaghter. My daughter told me she wants to come to this school next year!!!! She was 9 only, but she made her decision as I did. I am so happy that she wants to come to this new environment. So I registered her for this program in June.

This Tuesday was the first day of school. She was excited, and I am ,too! This Extensions is so special that I would like to tell you what I have learned about this program so far.....just TWO days!

1. There is only ONE classroom for Extenstions program.
2. There are 7 kids at this Extensions program.
3. There are two teachers teach at this program.

Now you got the number: 1 & 7 & 2. You should know how much budget the school board put into this program. It is not cheap.

4. Those 7 kids are divided into two groups. "Extension 1" is for kids from grade 1 to grade 3. "Extension 2" is for kids from grade 4 to grade 6. Since my daughter is at grade 5 this year, of course she belongs to "Extension 2". There are 3 kids in Extension 1 and 4 kids in Extension 2: 1 6th grader, 2 5th grader and 1 4th grader.

5. According to what the principal told me, this program has access to university's facility. since it is a short distance for walking to university, they quite often vist university lab of some department as field trip.

6. Since there are many parents of students at his school work at university or university hospital, some subject presentations are offered by professors or doctors for thos kids at this program.

7. There are only two girls in this program. One, of course, is my daughter. The only Chinese. And only one East Indian boy, and others are white kids.

8. For some subjects they all learn together, for some others, they learn by divided group.

9. One happy news: Extensions program kids do not have to pay lunch fee.....I do not know why, probably the school board cover it.

For those past two days, I have asked my daughter how is school after I picked her up. She told me what they learn and what project she was doing....she is happy! I was surprised that just during the first two days of new shcool year, they have already done so much. I know teachers always have difficulty to get kids' attention back to school after long vacation. Those kids at extentions program all have high desire of learning and exploration.
