Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.7 e% N( [: u0 f2 s7 J

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.. |) A. g9 D( X) r0 Z+ d6 L5 {* b
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.6 V6 _1 t& @& }; s( X. ~9 h7 L0 t- n
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.9 f" `; Z7 f7 \6 q: q0 d
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ' c/ N# T+ y5 s; J i5 [# m

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

0 r( w# s ~" k; H8 s( S• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
& D/ H- Q6 X8 t• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
( h% C7 a% m6 _$ ~• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) & D( x: C& X, u. N
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. * s6 @; h" [; o# D
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
- d- a# q* `5 A; x, H6 J0 P3 zvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 + N* f$ ^7 Z3 x6 O" G- z
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly; f4 ~2 ^6 y& I/ C( o( l
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
