0 }3 M( \9 i/ v! ?! yEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.; Z# Q& P/ e+ V" i6 }+ v' D4 c+ g
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
; q4 _/ I. g1 |2 u& s( _• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
. b& X3 p+ ]8 g6 P" s1 h• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 1 c p. l' u( f& P2 S) \6 ?

0 `! J8 q! h3 Y a3 s6 \• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
! k8 t J I) R" ]# W• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability ' p e* c5 U, ~1 C- e
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger
% }' L2 ^' M" ?+ H- G4 Y3 Iof the day.5 r) Z% ^1 n& h+ I4 q% X+ L/ p
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
, @7 @3 R( F. U- m• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
% ^6 h7 ^2 r) h0 d( w• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.0 h1 n5 k& z% q9 K
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
y* ^6 ]( _+ l$ j4 dshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
# f d* u q& B" X d• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill . M; @# f2 u8 q* Z0 K
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004
