5 x2 i: ~$ y N% _Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.4 R" T+ u& K4 G9 B0 i

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

) X; h+ }7 P0 l$ ]& d) W. X( l• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.1 V0 K. z6 l- A/ Q
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

# K: E: w. _2 e8 Z) @• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
, r/ v% ^/ r( a5 G! q• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
$ b4 k* R7 j0 b' H* @3 U• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
5 {- {1 q2 c! d/ y/ C* ^( O• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 8 s2 `- Y7 _/ l8 L2 [: b
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 2 B. y/ [" b: T) S6 @
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
% H6 J' p* A8 Y- M @video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).8 Q1 d7 R& D0 b
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.: ~( M6 n$ f- N) V. _
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

HOURS OF WORK:

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly, e6 n, s9 M: I- @& { s

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004
