" k; R7 q1 h1 p9 {& {Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.- D$ o2 e& r5 ]0 k$ o' m
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
) w8 G# n) |5 N% u- _. t; s• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.- n$ K5 ?1 s& q. q# {
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 9 ^1 ` m8 u) g9 R1 n u
and traffic conditions.

% f6 {# T& V/ h( T8 W3 n! J) ?• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.$ y, b: x7 `" A# u1 _4 s
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
# v6 h9 ^/ I; J$ d& g% j6 sto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger ( D9 X1 |( h% k. c

• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.0 ^5 b$ E) ?" Q* ]& a
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
% H# P# C& P. y9 Y0 G& A* R0 e, Y) Q• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
4 j8 I T( a. ashowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
9 k2 L) ] J! U' ]. H9 R• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
, I7 _2 V7 d, [4 R# w$ s2 p8 @video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
