JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Returning Officer reports to the President of
( B" Y& G! a% y% O+ l9 k. athe Students' Union and oversees all electoral logistics as per Bylaw 5 [( o! A- }7 ?# c% n, u
2000. The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students'

Standing Orders by April 15 and serve from May 1 to April 30 of the

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:6 h" ^/ e$ Q3 y3 R: T# J( {# I

1) To run the elections as per Bylaws 2000

2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.2 J, O9 {4 }) |

3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.

4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing ' G# }% A8 a0 c, ?
adequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations * c% `, {( |4 ]9 R8 a% m
across campus, and advertising the poll locations.2 J6 q) l e" ?" O# M4 u) i

5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/ 2 b- i' S r2 l
referenda.

6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate

To enforce budgetary regulations as stipulated in the Elections 4 F+ p) S7 F S) f
Bylaw 2000.

6 ~0 X" Z: g; K$ ]$ d4 E0 x" Qminimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday,
% F% Q0 w" h+ t( p4 I; L' I5 zfrom the first working day after nominations close until the last day % s. x3 U1 N; H, [2 E" }' l; s
of voting. These hours are to be posted in advance.

11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during

9 d* B% S5 L1 i+ Z \7 {4 X12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting 3 k" ^1 P5 N, b. E
process is in place.

of campaigning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course 3 r U0 Y+ M, Y" D$ h* N* P! d
for each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students' $ @) I" S" `5 z1 u E/ d+ R
Union member.7 I- w, c8 ~% u

2) Must have some experience in student elections.
* f+ V; [$ H- Z5 H6 d* M4 M6 D+ }( n$ n- e7 {8 c" h
3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or * h5 c$ p; |, q$ S2 z& }
any of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position . G) x% N; Y1 Y* [+ u @$ |5 r
