The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
+ Z4 m+ _4 o' j- l$ A3 aages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
# f  }5 k5 b# o, B9 V  }7 d% ]organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
3 K; W; u1 T1 ?- \& O1 kand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
) A5 |9 I0 `; O# C" \policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
. e+ [8 x' U6 s7 _affairs at all times.

3 g  l: U. O$ E, mPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
$ G7 s: R& t4 z( r$ w/ ]7 C) rarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
9 |( d4 u0 o+ i& \5 Tthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
/ U% B' C- v" B3 Qdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
1 v; c3 |6 |$ U2 o* y! @* tpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
9 y/ F! s* l! K/ t0 ]2 Gthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
$ I' s$ V& G$ ?organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
