Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
& F+ E v5 V. r• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
5 I. q4 Y* ?$ x( b" x. n# f• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.
4 p# _ D' J0 B: Z+ H9 H; a0 s8 |• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.+ U2 W3 L3 p" I- x; \( A! z
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works
3 D6 E V4 G$ F6 N1 q• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
5 R! |- S; p% [8 u7 U7 s9 P• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.6 n% S2 ^+ h4 q+ y% v5 y
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.( r' }' P7 I/ R' w! ]6 P
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.

• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving. A: b! X4 f7 V* q( l/ u8 b
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).) u& m' a) }9 c( s8 e+ ?8 E
• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.
% e* `. D Q9 K• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
6 W5 Y* t) t# v* i• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.

• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

Job Requirements:
. ]: T3 g+ }" x5 C; N• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.: c& x" T1 W! W) r: I% R
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.5 {; S4 Z# b) Q) q! Q
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
' e& ?& L) `, K/ h4 [' P• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.* u. ]2 _! p8 d
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
+ [4 {3 G% ]9 o6 C B% v• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.3 T2 m' \0 d T
