Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works4 v. w8 f3 ^5 I0 v
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
) e8 u1 U1 d# V0 I5 T( B3 u• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.: s: \/ y, C+ K" l/ W/ d$ n1 |
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

: W3 _0 `+ C/ \' F• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. . j' x( ~: R- f9 z' Q7 B* }
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.! p% C+ K! I: A2 s
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
! ~: _; {4 d8 R. V2 H3 i• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).

Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services

• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.

Functions of all positions:

• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.: r7 F% C& u. A0 M- W" e) c$ J
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
% w3 s/ H9 \- c9 W' y2 \$ k7 A• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.! M ^$ K( ~" |6 H. A1 D
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment." G+ H6 h, r. S& x. B0 T
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

t5 c: q6 _" x- bHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
# \3 q! x ]7 ^" q q3 CSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
