Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works% J9 q7 t! G* n$ |1 R' c1 v% `. m
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.' N k3 P3 ~! b" i( A0 X7 U
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe./ G2 P8 P" v6 s6 a, N( R; r, J! N* K
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. 3 F) J. Q, N4 \/ z2 x; c' I: O! {
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.* V( v$ I" E# W1 o1 J
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation
; z& H5 s, c+ t9 o- K. C# y% S• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.
$ {+ W. V. c1 Y# `: J. ~2 h' S• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).

• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.4 V/ q% S- T {/ H% a) h8 H
• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.# S9 }' N2 F' }6 ^2 H) T
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.9 s; ~* X! u) e3 \( u
• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.- Y# Q: c/ c. T! Q4 y+ N) a

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.
& s0 `. \/ @( U. a8 x# z• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.. l% W, }; R& n U& d
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
% k' M- o# a5 t; ?• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
' V9 `5 H; y7 n! O0 X( t• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.* m" g& T: u7 {) t2 O" @5 T0 f- I
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment./ Q' j3 e! d9 i* ^8 i& g
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
8 M5 R* k4 m- ~( @4 uSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City./ n4 v! g' u- ^2 L; ]3 E
